Legendary La Carvelle is turning 40, but not the ladies who lunch there
OF A CERTAIN AGE
They're a whole new generation of upwardly
noble and very mobile girls who lunch. And
just like the ladies who lunched before them
(many of them their mothers and
grandmothers), their favorite place is La
Caravelle. Far from long in the tooth and
with nary a lift of a tuck, this grande dame
of French restaurants celebrates its 40th
birthday this month with a series of gala
dinners and invitation-only events at which
girls, ladies, and other equally notable
figures from media, the arts, and politics
will mingle and mix.
